Tom Sprayberry, M.M.
Director of Community Guitarists

A musician since the age of 11, the Florida-born guitarist Tom Sprayberry holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Stetson University where he studied under legendary American guitarist Dr. Stephen Robinson, as well as a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio where he studied under award-winning guitarist/composer Dr. Matthew Dunne. During his studies, Tom had the oppurtunity to participate in masterclasses with many world-class guitarists, including Manuel Barrueco, Bruce Holzman, Roland Dyens, Scott Tennant, Jeffrey McFadden, and others. While at UTSA as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Tom founded the guitar program at the UTSA Downtown String Project, a program designed to bring quality group guitar instruction to the inner-city youth of San Antonio. An active guitarist in the San Antonio area, Tom has performed in productions of Little Shop of Horrors (2013) and Rent (2010) at the Sheldon Vexler Theatre. Currently, Tom is Instructor of Guitar at San Antonio College, where he leads a thriving private studio as well as teaches college-level guitar ensemble classes. Tom is also a Senior Instructor at San Antonio Music Academy in San Antonio, TX.
